Hearts & Homes for Youth began serving youth in Maryland in 1964, when we opened our first residential treatment care center in Montgomery County to provide young people with residential and supportive services. Our homelike environment and program services empowers youth to make positive choices and become independent adults.

Despite being one of the richest states (per capita) in the nation, 1 in 8 children in Maryland live in poverty, which means they struggle to afford food, shelter, clothing, and transportation. [1] Additionally, 12,375 children in Maryland experienced and reported abuse or neglect in 2013; child abuse and neglect can lead to attachment disorders, mental health issues, developmental delays, educational challenges, and behavioral problems. [2] We can win the struggle against poverty and child abuse by providing young people with a safe home and educational advocacy and vocational support to protect children from harm and help create a strong, educated workforce.

Hearts & Homes for Youth believes that all young people deserve the opportunity to succeed. By partnering with community members, community leaders, organizations, businesses, corporations, schools, and religious institutions across the state of Maryland, we are working toward a future where all young people have the individualized support they need to achieve their fullest potential.

We serve youth from across the state of Maryland at our programs located in Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City and County, Howard County, Montgomery County, and Prince George’s County.
